Ahmed is a Research Scientist and crop science consultant with an extensive experience in horticultural crops including indoor and outdoor vegetables, cut flowers, bedding plants, tender fruit, ornamental and specialty crops. He conducted a lot of research trials and experiments in developing the production technology of outdoor cut flowers in Canada and wrote research papers.
Ahmed holds a master’s and M.phil degrees in Plant Breeding & Genetics with advanced professional training in Biotechnology from Germany. He is a Professional Agrologist and did quite a few certifications from Canada like, Certified crop science consultant, IPM specialist, plant nutritional specialist from University of Guelph and Clinical Research coordinator from McMaster University.
He has a working experience in Asia, Europe, South and North America in Agriculture research and extension sector. He also has 5 years of sales and marketing experience with Pioneer Hi-Bred International as sales Agronomist and with Government sector of Pakistan as Vegetable Breeder. He developed new vegetable varieties and produces basic seed of most vegetable crops. Ahmed worked for OMAFRA, as IPM Specialist – Specialty Crops and focused on development of pest management including sweet potatoes, tobacco, ginseng and herbs.
He also worked for the University of Guelph (Centre for Land and Water Stewardship) as Horticultural Specialist / Consulting agronomist, during the summer of 2009, he conducted on-farm demonstration plots on six potential new ethnic vegetable crops at six locations in central southern Ontario.
