- Job Title: Community Program Assistant
- Job Term: 52 Weeks Contract Position
- Pay and hours: $15.50/hr, 25 hours a week for one year (52 weeks)

Greenest City is a community-based organization dedicated to environmental stewardship that connects communities. Our innovative programs connect people to local food, to each other, and to opportunity through community gardens and kitchen activities. This position assists with all of our programs including three community gardens, workshops, field trips, events and festivals, and year-round youth programming.

Responsibilities:
- • Support our community food gardening programs by assisting the Executive Director and the Youth Program Manager
- • Help design and staff drop-in gardening and cooking programming for youth and children
- • Organize and buy needed materials and supplies for gardening and cooking programs
- • Maintain volunteer files and tracking of hours contributed
- • Participate in the on-going evaluation of the program
- • Recruit, orient/train volunteers and participants in the gardens, workshops, and field trips
- • Help organize volunteer appreciation events, awards and activities
- • Support volunteers in specific program areas (such as special events, garden events, office support)

Qualifications:
- • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of people
- • A positive and kind way with community volunteers and partners, especially children and youth
- • Self-starter that can work with minimal supervision when needed
- • Excellent organizational skills
- • Interest and experience with gardening and cooking
- • Interest in food issues, and willingness to promote local sustainable food
- • Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community (people of different ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds)
- • Familiar with MS Office computer applications
- • Ability to speak a language relevant to the South Parkdale neighbourhood is a strong asset
