Custodians:

Urban Agriculture Folks Show their support

In the middle of July (2011) the TCGN received a message from Dave Harvey the Executive Director of Toronto Park People. It was concerning the serious cuts that would damage our parks, where many community gardens are located, and cuts to other programs that would have a direct impact on many other forms of urban Ag. - proposals that the City KPMG was planning to make in the budget review. I couldn't be more proud to be part of Toronto's food movement. The City's community food action-ists answered the call to come out to City Hall and give their experiences of why food programs are so important for the people of Toronto. They also filled out the Core Service Review and said why food security, local food and more opportunities to work in food are important to them. We're still not sure the message has resonated though, so we need your councillors to keep hearing from you...

Did you know that only 51% of Torontonians live within 1km of a grocery store?
