Custodians:
Interested in composting?

.

The Stop Community Food Centre is looking for dedicated volunteers to help with our compost facility. Come 1 per week for 1 hour (eg. Every Tuesday from 3pm to 4pm) within the work week or Saturdays during the farmers’ market (8am -12pm) to take on the following tasks:

.

.

  • -Collect coffee grounds from Starbucks and World Class Bakers
  • -Record compost temperatures
  • -Aerate compost bins with compost crank
  • -Ensure empty green bin is available for compost contributors
  • -Feed Worm Bins
  • -Ensure that bins are well sealed and that no garbage is left in the area.
  • -Ensure that the compost contribution sheet is entered into the online database.

.

Volunteers, once trained, are asked to work primarily independently. In compensation for your on-going work, for every month that you contribute to the compost, you will receive a high quality worm compost tea bag (dissolves in your watering can to fertilize three planters).

Training for this volunteer position will begin June 24th and spots are limited.
